Audio & Video Forensics
Recordings can be tampered with, fabricated, or too degraded to use. We analyse audio and video files to determine authenticity, extract what is recoverable, and produce findings you can act on.
Audio and video forensics covers authentication, enhancement, and metadata analysis — establishing what a recording actually shows, whether it has been altered, and what technical details it contains.
Authenticity Examination
Analysing audio and video files for signs of editing, splicing, re-encoding, or manipulation — and documenting what the technical evidence shows.
Audio Enhancement
Improving the intelligibility of degraded or noisy recordings to recover speech or sounds that are unclear in the original — within the limits of what the source material actually contains.
Video Enhancement
Processing low-resolution, poorly lit, or degraded video to improve clarity of detail — such as faces, licence plates, or scene elements — where the source data supports it.
Metadata Analysis
Examining embedded metadata to establish when a file was created, what device recorded it, whether it has been re-encoded, and whether the metadata is consistent with the claimed origin.
Deepfake & Synthetic Media Detection
Assessing whether a video or audio recording shows signs of AI-generated or synthetically manipulated content — using technical indicators present in the file and signal analysis.
Forensic Evidence Report
A structured report documenting the analysis methodology, technical findings, and conclusions — suitable for legal proceedings, dispute resolution, or formal complaints.
Audio and video forensics is used in legal disputes, criminal investigations, employment cases, and any situation where the integrity or content of a recording is in question.
You have a recording that may have been edited or altered and need a technical assessment of its authenticity
You need to enhance a surveillance or CCTV recording to make key details more visible
You are dealing with a recording being presented as evidence against you and want it independently examined
You suspect a video or voice recording of someone has been AI-generated or synthetically altered
You have an audio recording from an incident that is difficult to hear and needs to be clarified
You are an attorney or investigator who needs a documented technical analysis of a multimedia file
How We Work
Intake
You describe the situation and share the file. We assess what analysis is appropriate and what is technically feasible.
Preserve Original
We hash and preserve the original file before any processing begins, ensuring the source material is documented and unchanged.
Technical Analysis
We examine the file at the technical level — signal analysis, metadata, encoding history, and any indicators of manipulation or synthesis.
Enhancement
Where requested and applicable, we process the recording to improve intelligibility or visual clarity within the limits of the source data.
Report
You receive a structured forensic report with methodology, technical findings, and clear conclusions you can act on.
Common Questions
What file formats do you work with?
We work with common audio formats (MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, FLAC, OGG) and video formats (MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, and others). If you are unsure whether your format is supported, contact us and we will advise.
Can you tell definitively whether a recording has been edited?
Technical analysis can identify many indicators of editing or manipulation — inconsistencies in the signal, encoding anomalies, metadata mismatches, and cut points. However, a definitive conclusion depends on the quality of the original file and how the editing was done. We report exactly what the technical evidence shows, without overstating conclusions.
Can enhancement make an unclear recording fully intelligible?
Enhancement can improve clarity, but it cannot recover information that was not captured in the original recording. If a voice is inaudible because the microphone was too far away or the noise is too loud, there is a hard limit to what can be recovered. We assess the source material first and give you a realistic view of what is achievable.
Can you detect AI-generated voices or deepfake videos?
We can assess recordings for technical indicators associated with AI synthesis and manipulation. This is an active area of technology, and detection is not always conclusive — particularly with high-quality synthetic content. We document what the analysis shows and are transparent about the limits of the examination.
Is the report usable in legal proceedings?
Our reports are structured with documented methodology, technical findings, and clear conclusions — designed to be used in legal or formal contexts. Whether a specific report is accepted in a given jurisdiction or case is a matter for your legal counsel.
How do I submit a file for analysis?
Contact us first to describe what you need. We will advise on how to send the file securely — typically via encrypted transfer — and what information to include about the recording's origin and context. Do not compress, re-encode, or alter the file before sending.
Have a recording that needs examining?
Do not alter, compress, or re-encode the file. Send it to us as-is and we will tell you what the technical analysis shows.
